Access to the SF Dyke March

Accessibility is a key ingredient for the San Francisco Dyke March. To that end, we have accommodations to serve our elder/differently-abled population. Parking space is reserved at a nearby garage and a wheelchair-accessible shuttle bus transports Dykes to and from Dolores Park. Accessible Porta-Potties are located near the senior/special needs area. There is a special viewing area with chairs along the March route. There's an option of riding a motorized cable car in the March. Dykes in wheelchairs and their companions are welcome to form a contingent at the front of the March. ASL interpreters are on stage at all times.

In Dolores Park
There will be a senior, accessible, and disabled nonsmoking area between 18th St. and 19th St. with an accessible Porta-Potty and awning, some refreshments, and a few chairs. Please bring your own chair if you can. Look for the green balloons for this area!

Senior/Disabled Cable Car
The senior/disabled cable car will board and leave from Dolores St. opposite 19th St. at 6 p.m. to get in line for the March. The cable car is ONLY for lesbians who cannot walk the length of the March. Friends and family are encouraged to walk alongside. (We're still looking for wheel monitor volunteers! Please contact us at access@thedykemarch.org if you would like to be a wheel monitor volunteer.)

Senior/Disabled Viewing Stand
The senior/disabled viewing stand will be in front of Sha'ar Zahav at 16th St. and Dolores St. There you'll find chairs, refreshments, and Porta-Potties that will be set up by 5:30 p.m.

Senior/Disabled Parking and Shuttle
Free parking starts at 2 p.m. A shuttle with wheelchair lift will pick up people from 2 p.m. until around 4 p.m. in an open parking lot at the corner of 7th St. and Harrison St. Please look for green balloons and Dyke March volunteers under the blue umbrella that will be the marker for this parking lot. Please note this new location for 2010!

Shuttle service from the parking lot to Dolores Park will run between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Shuttle service from Dolores Park to Sha'ar Zahav will run from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. After the March passes the viewing stand, there will be three or four shuttles, as needed, from Sha'ar Zahav to the parking lot.

BART Riders Pickup
Exit at the 16th St. and Mission BART station, travel westward on 16th St. toward Hoff St. Look for green balloons and Dyke March volunteers.

PLEASE NOTE: We are asking for a donation upon entering the park. However, ALL senior/disabled services are provided free of charge.

For more information on senior/disabled services, email access@thedykemarch.org or leave a message at 510-533-5489.
