SF Dyke March VALUES
The following are the values of the San Francisco Dyke March, achieved through community discussions 2025.
Value Statements:
We Dykes are against war, imperialism, and all forms of genocide, including the ongoing US-backed genocide in Palestine. We oppose the use of political, institutional, and military power to oppress marginalized groups of people, including native peoples, Black people and other people of color, immigrants, asylum seekers, people with disabilities, and transgender individuals.
We are Dykes of many races, nations, ages, faiths, abilities, sexualities, and genders. We celebrate each Dyke’s contribution to our full diversity, reject any attempt to exclude a self-declared Dyke, and refuse to tolerate behaviors like racism, classism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism, religious intolerance, biphobia, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, ageism, ableism, and fatphobia.
Bodily autonomy is the absolute right of every Dyke and every person. We refuse to recognize or tolerate laws that infringe on that right, including laws that criminalize sex work, and we affirm and celebrate the self-expression and self-care of all Dykes.
We are Dykes who advocate fiercely for all Dykes and each other. We reject attempts to exclude or evict transgender and nonbinary Dykes of all gender expressions from a community to which they have always belonged. We actively protect their safety, dignity, and joy in every context.
Dykes know that every kind of medical care is a necessity. We won’t be satisfied until every person, including incarcerated people, can access every form of care they need without laws or institutions that restrict safe access to abortions, birth control, and gender-affirming care, and without any consideration of cost.
Dyke joy has incomparable power. We blatantly celebrate our joy as an act of resistance against a society that attempts to extinguish our visibility, strength, and happiness.
